With being at home all of the time, many of us are finding that our lives are lacking structure. Every day seems like the next and some of us just can’t seem to make being at home feel like we aren’t stuck at home. Being at home shouldn’t feel like a curse. Sure, socially it is a bit different but making sure that you are still trying to keep healthy habits as much as possible is key.
Just like when you are trying to find Mr. or Mrs. Right you should have nonnegotiables. You probably had the before quarantine, so that doesn’t mean you can’t have some nowโthey just might look a little different.
4 Healthy Habits to Prioritize in Quarantine
Go to Bed Early
Just because your commute and ‘getting ready for the day’ might take you all of 10 seconds now, doesn’t mean you need to stay up later. Making sure you still get adequate sleep, if not more, is ideal right now more than ever. When you are sleeping your body is recovering from the day. If your body cannot recover, then your immune system is compromised. We certainly don’t want a compromised immune system with a viral pandemic happening across the world now do we?
Eat Well
One thing that definitely comes with being at home is that you can’t go out to eat (or not as often). Now is the time when you literally can control every single food item that goes onto your place and into your body. Make this time count. Maybe you need a healthy reset. Maybe you need to practice some healthier cooking. Now is the time. And don’t forget your vitamins.
Put Your Phone Down (More Often)
We aren’t saying that you shouldn’t be in the known of what is happening in the world around you. We are simply saying that it is important to choose who to get your information from. You don’t need to hear the same narrative from 100 people. You also don’t need to hear a different narrative from 100 people. Choose wisely and remember that if you feel overwhelmed put your phone down for a couple minutes. If you still feel the same sensations, then maybe you need to reach out and address how you are feeling, if you don’t, then move along.
Find Joy Every Single Day
Remember that this too shall pass. It can be hard to get caught up in feeling like every day is the same. Instead, make it a point to do something joyful every day. This could be something simple like getting outside and going for a walk. Or paint a positive message on a rock and leave for others to see on their walk. Maybe you want to pick up a new hobby or jump on the sourdough bandwagon. The options are endless. You could even learn a new language or just sit back and watch your favorite childhood movie. Whatever you choose, allow it to give you joy.
