Ah, that moment when a Sunday no longer feels like the weekend anymore, with the anxiety of Monday right around the corner, you begin to dread every minute that follows. Even if you love your job, a Monday just isn’t the same as a Friday, Saturday or even Sunday. The agony of setting your alarm and knowing you’ll have to wake up at an hour you aren’t the most bubbly at weighs heavily. Sundays don’t have to be anything like this – Sundays can be the best days to set your intentions of having the best week ever.
Write our your schedule
Set some time aside to figure out everything you need to accomplish this week. Come up with a plan to get all the important tasks done, time for yourself to recharge and time spent with the important people in your life.ย Aim to have your work completed on Thursday. This way Friday can then be used to tackle any tasks that come up unexpectedly, allowing you to finish the week strong.
Get to bed early
Benjamin Franklin said one of the most quoted phrases in history… โEarly to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.โ Crawl into bed a bit earlier than you would during the week. Your body may be used to staying up later the past two nights. Getting to bed earlier will help your body adjust and start to settle into relaxing and resting.
Meal prep
Plan ahead some or all of your meals. Planning ahead leads to the greatest amount of success, in all aspects, not just your waistline. Spend a couple hours in the kitchen preparing meals for the week. You can do as little as grocery shopping for the week or preparing all of your marinating and chopping or even cooking some of the meals all together. Taking care of some of the mundane work ahead of time, allows you to have more time to actually enjoy eating your meals, leaving you feeling less like a slave to the kitchen. Maybe you want to check out a meal delivery service, some great options are Blue Apron, Sun Basket and Sakara to name a few.
Plan your outfits
Sure you can go all out fashionista, but what I really mean is take a look at your schedule you wrote out for the week. Do you have a work meeting you need to look extra nice for? Do you plan to go to the gym at lunchtime or right after work? Does your kid have an outdoor activity you need different clothes for? Are you grabbing drinks with friends? Whatever you have going on thinking out what outfits you need now, will help you make sure you have all the right clothes as well as you feeling your best or at least prepped for the elements ahead.
At the very least take a few deep breathes. There is no need to get anxious about tomorrow being Monday. If you have learned at least something from one of my previous articles, it is that your week doesn’t start on a Monday, it started today!
