If you have been working your butt off in the gym–not literally, then sometimes traveling can be the perfect time to give your body the break it needs. However, if you are someone that likes to keep up on their workouts while traveling, because who knows that mother-in-law or work meeting you have to attend may just scream that your body needs a workout. This could be for more mental reasons than physical, but a good workout can satisfy both.
Working out while traveling though has its disadvantages. Mainly it is because you are thrown all out of whack with your routine. Even though, your routine may not be what it is normally is, doesn’t mean you can’t work out. It just may take a bit more effort and planning than it may otherwise. Here are 4 ways we keep up with our workouts while traveling.
Research ahead of time.
Take a few minutes before you travel to research what there is to offer as far as gyms and workout facilities in the area. If you are a proud dedicated to SoulCycle or Orange Theory or Equinox or something along those lines, there may be a location where you are traveling to. If so, that won’t take too much time to find out. If not, ask any friends if they may know where the best workouts are or head to social media or Yelp to ask the experts in the area. Finding places ahead of time can give you a set schedule as to when they have classes or where you are able to workout when you are in town.
Do it in the morning.
Just like when you have a busy schedule at home, getting your workout done the first thing in the morning is best. When you are traveling you may not have much control over your schedule, but you can control what time you wake up. If you know what time you need to be somewhere, then just wake up a bit earlier and get a workout in at the hotel workout room. That will save you the most time if you are traveling with jam-packed scheduled days.
Hotel Room Workout
The quickest way to get in a workout is to workout in your hotel room or in the bedroom of whenever you are staying. There are plenty of body weight exercises that can get your heart pumping and give you a great workout without needing anything extra. Pinterest is a great way to find some of these workouts, just like the one we posted below.
When in doubt run it out.
If you don’t have a lot of options to choose from or don’t want to put a whole lot of thought into it, then just go for a run. Running is always a great way to get in a workout while keeping your cardiovascular strength strong. Plus, you can really explore where you are staying by running around the city and let your eyes take it all in.
