We get asked all the time for food recommendations, as well as people asking us to spill our guts on what we eat in a day. For whatever reason, we are equally entertained by other people’s posts about ‘what I eat in a day’ that we thought we would list one of our own.
First Thing
The first thing I reach for next to my bed is a tall glass of water waiting for me. I roll out of bed and sit on the edge of the bed while I drink my water. Then I head to the kitchen after some bathroom duties.
I don’t reach for something to eat right away because I typically like to workout in the morning. I am not someone that can eat something before I work out, so my workouts are typically fasted. If I do decide I need a little nibble on something, I grab a handful of paleo granola to help the grumbles from occurring.
However, before every workout, I always fill a glass with 8oz of water and POW. POW is literally my favorite pre-workout on the market (and I am not being biased). I have tried TONS of pre-workouts in my days. What I love most about POW is the flavor and I don’t feel like my heart is going to explode out of my chest. Plus, it has some great recovery benefits too.
After Workout/Breakfast
Between working out and getting started with work, I usually don’t have a lot of time to sit down and eat my breakfast. Due to this time constraint I usually opt for making a protein smoothie. A couple of my favorite smoothie this time of year are #Basic Pumpkin Smoothie* and Cherry Protein Smoothie*. (*sub your favorite protein powder for PRIME) They are nutritious, satisfying, delicious and I can drink them while I start work on the computer.
Lunch
Lunch lately has been a nice big salad loaded with fresh veggies, lean protein, and healthy fats but hold the dressing. I don’t usually get dressing because they are typically high in calories. I like to mash up the avocado that is on my salad into the salad to make it feel like their is a dressing type element on my salad without actually having dressing.
Afternoon Snack
My lunch and dinner are usually the meals that are most spread apart which calls for an afternoon snack. My go-to snack is a protein bar or a few protein balls with a side of SUPER FUEL, of course. My go-to protein ball recipes are Chocolate Almond Butter Protein Balls* and Pistachio Lemon Protein Balls*. (*sub your favorite protein powder for PRIME)
Dinner
What I have for dinner kind of depends on the activities of my day and if I have time to make a complex meal or not. More times than not, my reoccurring dinner is grilled vegetables, grass-fed steak or other meat, and sweet potato. If I really had an active day or intense workout and still feeling hungry I will add a little dessert in at the end too. My absolute favorite dessert is Avocado Chocolate Pudding.
