If you are living in large busy cities, jet setting off to other countries or have a long day ahead, it is always important to keep healthy snacks within reach. The last thing you want is to be stuck in traffic or 3 more hours of your flight left and the attack of a growling stomach overwhelms you. Hello, hangry! I know I get hangry and it is definitely not my prouder moments.
Since there aren’t Whole Foods in airports and definitely not grab ‘nย go stands on the sidewalks, here are 8 of my favorite snacks that Iย always keep within arms reach:
Large Bottle of Alkaline Water
A large bottle of water is always helpful to have on hand to quench your thirst to keep you hydrated. (It also is great to have handy for the item I have listed next.) Of course, you can’t bring a bottle of water through security at the airport so I suggest bringing an empty reusable bottle or buying a ridiculously overpriced water somewhere past security. Choosing alkaline is a great option in keeping your out of an acidic state and hydrates you faster.
EBOOST Spruce and Power Shot
These two bad boys are great for getting in your veggies with our product,ย Spruce and putting a little pep in your step with our Shot. Both full of vitamins and minerals that are great to never have too many of while traveling, or a long day of running around town.
Nuts or Individualย Nut Butter Packets
Nut butters have stepped up their game tremendously over the past couple years with individually packaged sizes and even very creative flavors. Grab a creative fun flavor combo and eat by itself or just grab a plain ole nut butter and slather it on the next item listed!
Fruit
Usually, just something as simple as a banana or apple does the trick for a snack. It is easier when it is a piece of fruit that you don’t have to wrap in something or worry too much about it getting squished. Even some of the no sugar added freeze dried fruit pieces are great or Mama Chia packets – a great source of Omega 3s and the chia seeds help keep your hunger at bay.
Energy Balls
These little guys are just too cute to not have with you always. The Gluten Free Bites are perfect for a bit of energy while satisfying your hunger and really pack in the nutrients, leaving the crappy ingredients in the dust. They are gluten-free, non-GMO, vegan, kosher, soy free, dairy free, free of trans-Fat and cholesterol… phew these guys are all about the quality healthy goodness. They also have gluten free bars and portable gluten free power breakfasts. Grab yours here.
Protein Bar
I have been super impressed with these raw proteinย bars from Dale’s. The cherry pistachioย does a great job at filling you up, being super delicious, and keeps my sweet tooth at bay while only having 6g of super but packing in 22g of protein. And being vegan, gluten free, non-GMO, soy and dairy free – it is like a match made in heaven. Some great alternatives are also the infamous Quest Bars and RXBARS too!
Hard Boiled Eggs or Jerky
Hard boiled eggs are great to keep at hand for some protein and fat to fill you right up. If you aren’t going to eat them for awhile though, I would suggest skipping the eggs and packing some jerky intend. The eggs can just seem a bit weird warm. I am particularly fond of Krave Jerky and Field Trip Jerky as they are both gluten and nitrate free.
What are some of your favorite travel snacks? We would love to hear!
