The holidays are in full swing with holiday parties filling up your schedule until the new year (and maybe through January). Holiday parties are fun to get all dressed up, see your favorite people, snack on some snacks and sip on some drinks… which is all fun and games until you realize you didn’t just have a few snacks and sips, but a lot of snacks and sips. And before you know it you are reaching for more snacks to try and not feel as buzzed. Before you know it you have taken in WAY more calories than you ever anticipated which could add up to hundreds if not thousands of extra calories at one party.
To help manage some of the caloricย intake from the beverages, we have a few alcoholic drinks to stick to when ordering one from the bar. As far as the food, well you need to keep yourself in check on that one and maybe that is just for another article altogether.
Vodka, Soda, and Lime
The classic low-calorie drink. Itโs extremely low in calories and carbs clocking in at 64 calories per serving and zero carbs! Basically, you are hydrating while drinking. How could that possibly leave you hungover? (wink)
Rosรฉ
This type of wine and wines on the dryer side are better options than those that are sweet. To know if it is dry, look on the label for the word ‘brut’ as that means it is on the dryer side with less sugar.
Guinness
This one may be the most surprising to you on the list because it is so thick and creamy, but actually,ย it is pretty healthy when it comes to alcoholic beverages.ย It is around 160 calories per pint and relatively low in alcohol content too so don’t get carried away and drink more because you aren’t feeling buzzed yet.
Shot
If you really are looking to get a buzz to be brave enough to talk to your boss in a social setting, then sticking to just straight alcohol is the quickest and least caloric way to go. Sticking to clearer alcohols are usually fewer in calories too. But remember one shot is probably enough.
