Oh, the power of a rest day! Rest days can be such glorious feeling days. Days when you don’t have to wake up early in the morning to take your favorite spin class, needing to wear at least two different sets of clothes, or skipping out on hanging with your friends to get in a good sweat. Rest days can be just as good for you mentally as physically.
Rest days are just as important as workout days but that doesn’t mean you need to completely lay it out on the couch all day. Why not take your rest day outside, or meet up with some friends for a causal activity? Rest days can still be full of activity but not necessarily as intense as your workouts.
Here are some ways that you can still be active on a rest day with it still counting as a rest day –
Rock Climbing
Grab a friend and seek out your local rock climbing gym. You’ll have to pay a couple bucks to rent some equipment, but it is worth it. Rock Climbing is both physically challenging and mentally challenging. It is something that can humbly you but a great activity to do with someone and bond over.
Stand Up Paddle Boarding aka SUP
SUP is a fun way to have some fun in the sun. SUP can challenge your balance and core in all the places you didn’t even know you didn’t use.
Volleyball
Whether it is on the beach or in the grass or in a gym, just get ready to laugh a lot.
Walk on the Beach
Why not grab your favorite dog or human and take a stroll on the beach. You can make it more challenging by walking in the dryer sand or make it easier by walking in the wet stuff.
Joy Ride
No need to clock in all the miles, but why not grab your bike and cruise the strand or bike up to your local coffee shop for an afternoon caffeine boost?
