Ah, you planned all week to run outside today yet all you see in precipitation just pouring out of the clouds. You find yourself less motivated to run by the idea of running in puddles, getting soaking wet, your shoes needing to dry out a couple days and even maybe getting a little electric shock from your earbuds if you were to go out and run in the rain. You could just write it off as a rest day and rework the rest of your workouts this week, but if you are really feeling like you would rather be active on a rainy day, then check out these ways to still be active when it is raining outside.
Just Run Anyway
No one is saying that you can’t run while it is raining, it just isn’t ideal conditions. Running in the rain can sometimes feel liberating, feeling more connected to the Earth, and just straight up fun running through the puddles.
Jump into a Yoga Class
Instead of running today, why not sign up for a yoga class. Yoga is a great complimentary exercise to running due to its ability to keep you looser and more flexible for your runs.
Start a Challenge
You know those fitness challenges you see floating around Pinterest. Pick one and make today be your day one. Anything from 100 squats a day for a month, building up how many push-ups you can do all month long, 200 crunches a day for a month–there is a fitness challenge for anyone out there, literally.
Climb a Hill
If it is raining where you live then chances are you also own waterproof clothing. You may not be able to run in the rain but you could work on some of your endurance and glute strength by walking up and down some neighborhood hills. You will still get a great workout in while challenging yourself in a different way.
Workout at Home
Throw on your favorite playlist and break a sweat inside your home. You don’t need to worry about driving in the rain to get to a gym. You can work out your whole body just the same right at home with one of our at home workouts.
