Next time you see that dreaded work meeting on your calendar, turn what could be a waste of time into a waist trimmer without anyone even noticing. However, donโt tell your boss you got the idea from here. Secretly, though, your boss should be proud that you killed two birds with one stone – because all in all, being more efficient in the workplace is something businesses strive for!
If you are positioned at a large conference table, then these exercises will be perfect – as no-one will have a clue that you are working your abdominals under the table.
Start with your bottom on the edge of your seat and extend your legs straight out parallel to the floor. Begin the movement by bending your knees and bringing them in as close to your stomach as possible, as if you were doing a lower body crunch. Hold your knees in for a moment, as you squeeze your abs, before extending your legs straight back out into starting position. Congrats, you just completed one repetition. Continue until you feel your abdominals start to burn, once you feel them burning, then do five to ten more. Rest for 30 seconds and then repeat. Remember not to make too funny of faces, as you will give yourself away. Oh and no grunting either, but remember to breathe.
The next exercise is a bit trickier as your movements have to be slow and subtle to pull it off. The good news is, the slower you move in the movement though the more effective and a deep burn you will feel. For this exercise, you can sit a bit more relaxed in your chair. However, make sure the boss isnโt going to call on you, because you may space out due to concentrating on the movement. With a very small movement, try and pick up your right hip as if you are doing a side crunch on your right side. The movement of your right hip coming up, even though small, will be challenging due to the oblique having to do all the work. Lift it as high as you can, while keeping your shoulders and upper body still, hold for a moment, and then release. Keep repeating on the right side, again until you feel the burn and then working through the burn for a few more repetitions, before performing the same thing on the left side. Once done with the left side, go back to the right side for a few more rounds.
And then the easiest one of all – just suck it in. Pull your abdominals in as hard as you can and hold for a count to ten before releasing. Repeat ten times.
Maybe next time you wonโt feel like a work meeting is a complete waste of time. However, donโt blame us if you get fired for not doing something you were supposed to retain from the meeting. Happy crunching!
