What it is: Orange-flavored dietary supplements containing vitamin B12, designed to give you an instant natural boost of energy and “mental clarity.” New on the market, the product was created by N.Y.C. restaurateurs John MacDonald and Josh Taekman (Lure Fishbar, Mercbar) after one too many staffers called in sick to work.
How it worked: The day I tried this, I was really, really tired. I also happened to have quite the hangover. It’s fair to say that I was looking to these effervescent tablets to take away all my pain. My expectations were high. And for the most part, E-Boost delivered. Though it couldn’t erase the embarrassment of singing Journey songs for my co-workers the night before, my energy level increased dramatically. I did, however, still find myself craving Chicken McNuggets and bagels with cream cheese.
