With mother’s day coming up this weekend it is important to show our appreciation to all of the mothers that surround us on a daily basis. For a lot of people, a mother is the family rock, a mother is someone that fills our hearts with the best memories, and for some, it is the idea of being a mother someday that is special too.
This Mother’s Day we challenge you to not only take some time to really show mothers how much you love them, but we also challenge all of the mothers out there to grab their child(ren) and get sweaty together. Remember, you are not just being healthy for yourself but to be healthy for your family too.
Children are literally their mom’s biggest fans (although it may not feel like it all the time.) When they younger they are extremely impressionable and soak up everything like a sponge. For those of you with younger children at home, instead of going off to the gym to do your workout while leaving your kids at home with a sitter or dropping them off at daycare, workout with your child(ren) instead.
Here are 3 simple reasons why you should workout with your kids –
You Can Do It
For some mom’s there is a guilt to be away from their child(ren), even if it is to go workout and do something better for themselves. This type of mindset needs to take a bit of a shift because being active and being with your kids can co-exist. Just drag the children with you and they’ll learn to like it. They may put up a fight at first but they will learn to live it. Plus, you can make it feel like a fun game to them at first.

It Doesn’t Have to be Complicated
Working out with your child(ren) doesn’t have to be complicated. You don’t have to think about a workout you do and then figure out all of the modifications for your moves for your children. Think of the day you workout with your child(ren) as not being your most intense workout day. Plan to go for a walk after dinner or turn on some music to make chores a bit more fun.
Not Just Physical
Your child(ren) will learn so much from working out with you. They will simulate the brain to connect the mind and the body together. They will start to unconsciously experience what it is like to be dedicated to something. It will show them what hard work is, which can simply just make them better human beings.
Even if your child(ren) won’t remember the specific memories of working out with you, they will already have a step above the rest learning what it is like to live a healthy and active life. Plus, you will remember the moments and that counts for something too! Let’s also not forget that mother’s can workout with their older and adult children too–it is never too late.
