Mom-ing is a tough job. Not only is it tough, but a lot of the time you feel like you have no time for yourself–especially when the kids are still at home. We get it, you moms are sacrificing all of your time you used to spend on yourself to spend with your kids. If you have just 5 minutes in your day to give yourself a bit of self-love and a good sweat, we challenge you, yes you a busy mom to put our workout to the test!
For a busy mom, we think a Tabata style workout is the best for you. A Tabata style workout is proven to deliver incredible results. It is a form of HIIT (high-intensity interval training which we are huge fans–check out why, here and here). You’ll burn fat, fire up your metabolism, and boost overall fitness level–maybe drop a few of those stubborn pregnancy pounds. The great thing about a Tabata workout is that you can make them as short as 5 minutes or as long as, well, however long you wish–the perfect style for a busy mom.
The Busy Mom Workout, Tabata Style
To up the challenge of this workout, feel free to use some lightweight dumbells.
For this Tabata workout, we are going to get your heart pumping for 1 minute, rest for 10 seconds, perform pair it with the cardio based exercise’s strength exercise and then jump back to a cardio based exercise. Come on busy mom, let’s get sweaty!
1-minute squat jumps
1-minute body squats
1-minute mountain climbers
1-minute jump lunges
1-minute alternating lunges
1-minute jumping jacks
1-minute triceps dips
This is 10 minutes of working exercises with 1 minute and 40 seconds rest. Totalling roughly 12 minutes of your time. If you have more time feel free to jump back to the top of the exercise list and do it all again to get twice the amount of sweat dripping and more calories burned!
