4 Ways Vitamin Deficiencies Affect Your Face

November 19, 2017

Needing about a half dozen essential vitamins daily it is hard to keep tabs on if we are getting our proper amount each day. Even when you think you are eating a healthy well-balanced diet it is hard to tell if you are deficient in one vitamin over another. Usually, we have no idea and continue eating the same diet without ever really being able to tell if we need to change our diets or not. However, there are some visual cues we can pay attention to when it comes to our body’s appearance. A lot of the time it is our appearance that shows signs of any vitamin deficiencies.

Here are 4 ways your face is telling you that you are deficient in a certain vitamin –

Ghostly Lips

If your lips are looking a bit pale this could be a sign that your body is deficient in iron. Iron deficiencies are common when a woman is menstruating or avoiding red meat. Left untreated and this could lead to feeling weak, tired, weak immune system and full-blown anemia. If you are avoiding red meat, try foods like seafood, beans, and dark green leafy vegetables. If you are all about the meat life, then increase your intake of red meat. Our SPRUCE always packs in a good amount of dark leafy greens if you are looking for a quick delicious way to increase your veggie intake.

Puffy Eyes

Not just a lack of sleep can you wake up with puffy eyes. Having a deficiency in iodine can cause your eyes to appear puffy. The problem with having an iodine deficiency is that it could lead to having thyroid issues as well. Don’t just reach for the salt shaker to increase your iodine intake, instead try eating more fish and sea vegetables–yummy ocean foods!

Brittle Hair

If your tresses seem a bit more stressed out and drier than normal, this could be because you are lacking in Biotin or Vitamin B7. If you are addicted to the bleaching and coloring of the hair life, then this trait may be harder to tell. Biotin helps the body to process protein and sugars while playing a key role in keeping the heart healthy. Try adding more eggs and nuts to your diet to increase your Biotin intake.

Snow White Skin

If you are noticing your skin a bit paler lately it may not just be because the dog days of summer are over. Having paler than normal skin can be a sign that you are deficient in Vitamin B12. Like we mentioned before feeling tired can be a sign of this too. Increasing your energy and your vitamin B12 intake, we recommend our SUPER POWDER. Our SUPER POWDER contains 41,667% of your daily recommendation while giving you a little energy too from the green tea and green coffee seed.
