You fell off the wagon during the holiday season (as a lot of people do). You got super excited at the idea of a new beginning and set yourself some New Year’s Resolutions. Now you are a month in and you are feeling a bit over your guidelines you set yourself up for all of January. Plus, you may have indulged a bit during the Super Bowl and since Valentine’s Day is just around the corner you are thinking about just waiting to start over again after Valentine’s Day. Well, if any of this may sound like you then you are in good hands. Just because you are feeling bored all ready about last month’s routine or you have already slipped up here and there, that is no need to completely throw in the towel. Follow these three tips and your lifestyle you have always dreamed of sticking with could actually happen (and you don’t have to feel tortured in the process).
Life Happens
Life certainly happens and when it does just let it slide. You slipped up, oh well–just jump back on and keep moving forward. The important thing is to really understand that life certainly happens and it is no need to beat yourself up about it or think that you completely ruined all of your progress.
Add Things In
Add things in, instead of taking them away. Too many of us get hooked up on having items on a ‘no’ list. Instead of having a no list, make sure you are adding things into your life to keep you on track. Do you love a glass of wine at night? Well, keep up sipping it up but also add in things like green vegetable juices and healthy fats during the day. Adding these things in your life are more likely to trigger you to add in more healthy choices which in the end could lead you to not reaching for the glass of wine at night anyway.
Snag a New Gadget or Apparel
Sure, life isn’t supposed to be materialistic but sometimes those items are exactly what can motivate us. If your goal is to run more, then you may just need to pick yourself up a nice pair of new running shoes. And when we mean nice, we mean nice. Too many times a cheaper pair of shoes won’t motivate you to run. You don’t feel as guilty for not wearing something if it isn’t that expensive. It is all about psychology with this tip. If your goal is to be stronger and move more then maybe you need to sign up for a nice membership somewhere and treat yourself to a few pieces of clothing to exercise in. Maybe you have been eyeing an Apple watch for some time now, right now could be the perfect gift to yourself to motivate you to start tracking your workouts.
And remember when it all comes down to it treat yourself with care.
