Today we are going to share our tips for Spring cleaning your diet.
Try ‘Lighter’ Foods to Your Diet
After a winter filled with cooked root vegetables, it is time to load your plate with the lighter, greener, raw vegetables of that grow with the Spring season. If you are someone that believes in changing your diet with the seasons then this tip is already something you have mastered. Mother Nature gives us the foods we need, so why not listen to what she has to say and eat the foods she gives us? Makes pretty good sense right? Plus, if you haven’t noticed fruits and vegetables that are not in season, yet you see in the grocery store carry a heavier price tag. They either have to be imported from where they are growing naturally or they are being forced to grow and lacking many nutrients they otherwise provide. Spring is the time to find the foods naturally growing from Mother Nature like asparagus, garlic,ย peas, cauliflower, cabbage, rhubarb, etc.
Clean Out the Fridge and Pantry
We weren’t kidding earlier when we mentioned Spring cleaning the pantry. Spring is the perfect reminder to go through your pantry and fridge, throwing away anything that is expired food, maybe just been there a while or food that just seems a bit heavy than the Spring season calls for. Cleaning out the pantry also gives you a nice refresher in knowing what is in your pantry so that you don’t waste money accidentallyย buying doubles or triples of what you already have. Having a clean pantry also creates space for the new season’s produceโwalk around a farmer’s market and you’ll see what we are talking about.
Not only can you take this time to clean our food that doesn’t need to be in there anymore, but it is also a great time to organize the pantry as well. Baskets and clear containers help organize and categorize the food as well as allowing you to see what food you have stacked behind those closed doors.
Greens, Greens, Greens
Not only should you be adding some more leafy greens to your plate, but drink up some of your greens too. Spring is a great time to be inspired by all of the greenery around you by making your glass just as green. Adding green juice into your daily regimen is a great way to get some vital nutrients (vitaminsย + minerals) into your body. Juicing can be something that people find to be very time-consuming. If you are one of those people, then we suggest checking out our green powder, SPRUCE – a kick of whole green vegetables and natural energy. SPRUCE gives you all the nutritional goodness of blended juice, without the blender.
