We get asked pretty often, ‘When should I be taking your protein?’. Although we feel that everyone is different–every person’s body is different, every person’s activities during the day are different, every person’s diet is different, there are some general tips we are happy to share when it comes to when someone should be consuming PRIME, our grass-fed whey protein.
After a Workout
Consuming protein right after you finish working out has a ton of benefits. Protein powder is protein delivered as an isolated nutrient source. It provides a lot of nutrition for relatively few calories. After you are done exercising, your body needs nutrition to recover properly. However, it does not need a lot of calories and certainly not enough calories to cancel out all the effort you put in during your workout. Whey protein is a great choice because it is easily digestible, allowing your muscles to source it right away.
Satisfy a Craving
Our chocolate grass-fed whey protein does a great job of curbing chocolate cravings. One of our favorite times to eat PRIME is that moment when it is approaching bedtime and all you want is a little bit of dessert. Just mix up a scoop of PRIME Chocolate with a little plain Greek Yogurt and it is like you are eating some tasty chocolate pudding. It is also fun to throw it in the freezer and make the texture more like that of ice cream.
Meal on the Go
Protein powders are a great resource to have around when you are short of time and need to take your meal on the go. Some of our favorite smoothie recipes are here and here, but one we are lovely lately is taking two scoops of PRIME Vanilla, half of a baked sweet potato, a dash of cinnamon, a TBS of unsalted almond butter, a cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk, a handful of spinach and blend it all up!
