Throw those beads around and bust out your purple, green and gold because today is Mardi Gras Day.
Mardi Gras is also known as Fat Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday. It is the day that is known in America, where every eats everything, drinks all the drinks and dance their little hearts out. The day before, you give up your vices for Lent.
However, if you aren’t into that sort of thing (don’t worry, we aren’t all about eating everything in sight either) and want to stick to a more healthier way to celebrate, may I suggest throwing together this smoothie in celebration. Oh and feel free to throw in a set of pearls too (aka the beads you use when you didn’t flash anyone to acquireย beads).
The Fat ‘Superfood’ Tuesday Eboost Smoothie
Ingredients – serves 3
Green Layer
- 2 cups frozen spinach
- 1 TBS spirulina
- 1 large banana
- 1/2 avocado
- enough almond milk/water to get things moving
- pinch xanthanย gum
Gold Layer
- one single serving nondairy yogurt
- 1 tsp turmericย powder
Purple Layer
- 2 cups frozen berries (blackberries, blueberries, raspberries)
- 1 TBS cacao powder
- enough almond milk/water to get things moving
- pinch xanthanย gum
- 1 packet Acai Pomegranateย Eboost Energy Powder
Directions
Separately blend each layer. Starting with your thickest layer, put that one on the bottom.
For me, this was a bit of a trial (and as you can see in the picture my third time was a charm). If you aren’t going for visuals, then don’t worry about the pretty layering.
Evenly divide each color into three equals portions.
And there you have it – a beautifully decorated, superfood smoothie to enjoy Mardi Gras with. ย Cheers!
